Normal service will resume shortly

I’ve been away for a while, but have finally stopped moving and am getting back into a normal routine. Since this is my first week in a new job, I thought it’d be a good time to give a quick update and to set the agenda for the next few posts.

We also went to the Rainforest World Music Festival in Kuching

In my last post, I explained that I was moving to Australia. What I maybe didn’t mention was that our little family would be taking an extended holiday in Malaysia on the way here. If you ever get the chance to take a really long holiday, I thoroughly recommend it. Malaysia was great to us too – we explored the cities, lounged on beaches, and saw orangutans in the jungle.

Now that I’m here in Melbourne I’m very excited to be joining HeadUp Labs, a startup whose aim is to use data science to help people sense of their health data. The app is in a closed testing phase, so trust me when I say it looks pretty snazzy. In fact, based on what I’ve seen so far, it seems like I’ll be working on some bleeding-edge stuff with some really smart folks. In other words, there’ll be plenty of inspiration for blog posts.

Upcoming blog posts

In my last post, I mentioned that I had a couple of posts in the works. Of these, the one on Azure Functions is a definite for sometime in the next couple of months. On the other hand, I’m not sure whether the post on UWP will ever make it.

Since my last post, I’ve had a go at learning Haskell. Not saying I’m a whizz at it, but I think there might be an interesting post in there.

Finally, I think I’m going to have to set up a VPN router for my new apartment. It doesn’t look like this will be hugely technical, but if it’s interesting at all I’ll post about it.

As my life settles into a new kind of normal, my blogging will soon return to some sort of rhythm. For now, though, all that’s left to say is “g’night” and “watch this space”.
